Double success for staff at County Durham nursery

Mar 10, 2026 | Local News

Two members of staff at a County Durham nursery are celebrating after completing qualifications.

Donna Green and Eve Bell from Clever Clogs Day Nursery in Belmont both recently passed courses to enhance their personal development.

Nursery Manager Donna has now finished the NPQ for Early Years Leadership Level 5, which she undertook with the Teacher Development Trust.

The certificate is to strengthen her knowledge and understanding of management and leadership, after she was made Manager after stepping up from the deputy’s over a year ago.

Meanwhile Eve has completed her Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification with Bishop Auckland College, passing with a distinction

Donna said: “When I became manager of the nursery, after over 10 years of working at various levels, I was determined to be the best leader I possibly could be, to ensure that the standards of excellence that the nursery is renowned for are not only maintained but further strengthened.

“This leadership qualification has really enhanced my personal understanding of the ins and outs of management, of the skills needed to be a successful manager, and has equipped me with a deeper knowledge of what it takes to get the best from your team.”

Eve said: “Everyone at the nursery has been so supportive of me while I have been completing my Level 3 apprenticeship and I am delighted that I am now fully qualified. Hopefully I can apply everything I have learned and continue to develop in the role as Early Years Educator.”

Clever Clogs Nursery Group Operations Director Sharon Lewis said: “Our people are our most important asset so their personal development is something we invest heavily in. We also know it’s not just about attracting the best people, it’s about retaining them, and key to that is giving everyone the chance to progress.

“We are so proud of Donna and Eve, they’ve really pushed themselves and are fully deserving of passing their qualifications. Congratulations to them both.”
