Results Day: Students receive A level, T-level and BTEC National grades

Aug 14, 2025 | Local News

A huge number of students are receiving A-level, T-level, BTEC National and other Level 3 results today.

Durham County Council is congratulating students for their efforts, with average grades across the county in line with last year.

This year, the average grade achieved at A-level is B-, while the average grade for Applied General qualifications is Distinction+. The average grade for Tech Level qualifications is Distinction+. These are all above national averages and build on a strong record of performance by county students over the last five years.

The council has received positive feedback from schools, with high proportions of students getting their first-choice university and others already beginning their journey on an exciting range of apprenticeship and employment opportunities.

Cllr Cathy Hunt, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for children and young people’s services, said: “Our huge congratulations go to everyone who has received their results today.

“It’s such a momentous occasion to open those results and we’re extremely proud of the effort that goes into achieving them. They reflect the hard work of the students themselves, as well as the dedication from teaching staff across the county’s schools and colleges, and the wider support young people receive from their family and friends.

“With that in mind, we hope everyone can celebrate today’s achievements. However, it’s also a good time to remind students that their results alone do not determine their future potential. If anyone didn’t receive the grades they were hoping for, fantastic opportunities still lie ahead, whether that’s vocational or academic. There’s also a great deal of support on offer across County Durham which we would encourage young people to take advantage of.”
