Two nurseries in County Durham have given their pre-school children the perfect send off as they prepare for the next stage of their early years journey.
Clever Clogs Belmont and Clever Clogs Bowburn both held graduation ceremonies for their three and four-year-olds, mirroring the style of a university graduation.
Dozens of the nurseries’ children, some of whom have been there since they were babies, have said goodbye to staff for the final time, as they prepare for life in ‘big’ school.
Parents and carers of children in Clever Thinkers and Big Inventors were invited to witness the graduation, which saw their little ones presented with certificates to mark their place in the ‘Class of 2025’, and given a little goodie bag with presents to mark the end of their time at Clever Clogs.
Donna Green, Manager at Belmont, said: “It was wonderful to give our children a fun send off that they and their parents and carers will remember forever. It’s fair to say there were a few tears shed but of course, this is the natural step in their early years journey, and we wish them all the best of luck as they progress to big school.”
Vicky Harrison, Manager of Bowburn, said: “We love graduation time as it’s chance to reflect on how the far the children have come in their time with us. That’s what nursery is all about, giving the children the perfect start and equipping them with the skills they need to start school.
“We all had so much fun at our graduation though it is an emotional time as well, especially having to say goodbye to the children for the final time. We know they’ll do great though and we’re proud of everything they’ve achieved with us.”
