Housebuilder, David Wilson Homes North East, celebrated World Book Day with pupils at Clever Clogs Nursery in Belmont, by arranging a storytelling event for the little ones to enjoy.
This event came ahead of the opening of The Oval at Old Durham Gate development in the spring. In celebration of World Book Day last week, Clever Clogs Nursery received a visit from an experienced storyteller who read a selection of stories, including Winnie the Pooh, to 18 children.
The event was facilitated by David Wilson Homes, who also visited the nursery for the literary milestone. World Book Day is an annual celebration of authors, illustrators, books and the joy of reading, with the aim of promoting reading for pleasure especially in children.
Donna Green, Nursery Manager at Clever Clogs Nursery in Belmont, Durham, said: “World Book Day is a hugely important day in our nursery calendar. Not only do our children have the opportunity to have fun during the day by dressing up as their favourite character, they also get a greater understanding of the joy of reading from a young age.
“We would like to thank David Wilson Homes for inviting us to take part in the event, and for the storyteller doing a fantastic rendition of Winnie the Pooh, amongst other children’s favourites. It was thoroughly enjoyed by our little ones, and a wonderful way to celebrate World Book Day.”
