‘Tis the season to celebrate sustainability at Dalton Park

Dec 5, 2022 | Leisure & Lifestyle

Dalton Park is living its sustainable values this Christmas with incredible festive displays made from sugar cane and recycled bottles.

A giant light-up polar bear, Santa’s selfie sleigh, a 6-metre Christmas tree and a sparkly, snowflake-filled walk-through arch are entirely recyclable and biodegradable.

A number of the decorations were manufactured using Bio-Print technology and made from GM free sugar cane, which emits 10 x less carbon than traditional motif designs during manufacture.

The walk-through Christmas tree and snowflake archway are also made from Recy-Print, which is manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

Centre Manager Richard Kaye explains: “When it comes to seasonal decorations, we strive to create a real ‘wow’ factor, without compromising on our commitment to sustainability, so partnering with an eco-friendly supplier was the perfect solution.

“We’re delighted with the Christmas display; the decorations look spectacular both day and night and we know we’ve done our bit for the environment… the Dalton Park team is sure to be on Santa’s nice list!

“Our Christmas launch put everyone in a fantastic festive mood; the event was spectacular – with music, fairground rides, live entertainment, fireworks, and lots of delicious food.”

Dalton Park has recently been announced as a finalist for its sustainability efforts in the North East Tourism Awards 2023.

The outlet shopping destination provides something for everyone, with shops, cosy cafes, a cinema, accessible children’s play area, 55 acres of parkland, and an extended programme of free Christmas events this year.

The next live event will be Back Chat Brass at Dalton Park on Saturday 10th December from 11am.
