Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa among winners at glittering national industry awards

Oct 5, 2022 | Local News

The winners of the Boutique Hotelier Awards 2022 were announced at a glittering live ceremony in London last night and Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa was mong the winners.

The awards took place at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel following months of anticipation, with 15 awards handed out in total.

The Serenity Spa staff at Seaham Hall picked up the Team of the Year award.

Eamonn Crowe, Editor at Boutique Hotelier, commented: “The commitment that the Serenity Spa team have shown to their roles is a credit to the employee culture at Seaham Hall. We were impressed by the team’s training in menopause and autism awareness, as well as community initiatives such as helping out with beach clean-ups. After all their hard work, it’s our pleasure to hand them this award.”

More than 300 hoteliers and hotel suppliers gathered to see the winners being unveiled and were treated to a Champagne reception and a three-course dinner.

The evening saw hotels from a cross-section of the UK win big, ranging from country manor houses to buzzy city hotels. Properties in Scotland, the Cotswolds, the Lake District and Manchester all scooped awards during the celebration.

Hoteliers were first invited to submit nominations for the awards in June, with three shortlists – decided by Boutique Hotelier’s in-house editorial experts – announced in August.

The public was then invited to vote for their favourite hotels, teams and individuals from the shortlists. More than 10,000 votes were cast before the deadline of midnight on 27 September 2022.

There were 15 award categories in total, ranging from Best Interior Hotel Renovation to General Manager of the Year.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was the only category not subject to a public vote and was instead decided entirely by Boutique Hotelier’s in-house editorial experts.

Eamonn Crowe added: “The Boutique Hotelier Awards are always a celebration of resilience and innovation, but this sentiment has taken on a deeper meaning in the last 12 months. Although the devastating Covid pandemic is thankfully in the rear view mirror, UK hoteliers continue to face unprecedented challenges. We wanted tonight to be a
celebration of those teams and individuals that have responded to these challenges with vigour and pragmatism, continuing to inspire both their hotel guests and fellow staff.”
