A County Durham bus station will temporarily close to all buses and passengers from Friday (4 March).
Durham County Council is closing Peterlee Bus Station to allow for emergency repairs to be replace a failed section of concrete road surface.
During the works, buses and passengers are being directed to use the layby on Burnhope Walk, where temporary bus stops will be installed.
Repairs are expected to take around one week. While the station is closed, all white lines in the bus station will also be refreshed to improve visibility for drivers and passengers.
Simon Day, Durham County Council’s contracts and services manager, said: “We appreciate that this is an unexpected closure that will cause some disruption to passengers. However, it is essential that these emergency repairs are carried out as quickly as possible.
“We would like to thank users in advance for their patience during the works and reassure everyone that we will reopen the station as soon as it safe to do so.”
