Ramsdens has relocated to Castle Dene Shopping Centre in Peterlee.

The popular value retailer and financial services brand has moved from a shop at Yoden Way.

The new store, which is located in a cornerstone area of the town centre opposite Costa coffee and on the busy thoroughfare to Asda, will continue to offer Peterlee shoppers great value on everyday products and services, including new and pre-owned jewellery and watches, travel money, pawnbroking, cheque cashing and gold buying.

Ramsdens’ travel money is commission-free, with rates checked daily to ensure that customers get the best deal.

Suzanne Chaney, centre manager at Castle Dene, said: “Ramsdens is an excellent addition to Castle Dene and I am confident it will attract more people to Peterlee town centre.

“The new store looks fantastic and I would encourage everyone to come and have a look at what it has to offer.”

Established in 1987, Ramsdens has 157 stores across the UK. The business is expected to report a profit increase, in line with the Board’s expectations, when it publishes its accounts for the 2018/19 financial year in June. Growth has been achieved across the company’s four main divisions: foreign currency, pawnbroking, jewellery retailing and the purchase of precious metals.

Ramsdens is continuing to expand through its growth strategy, which recently saw the firm acquire 18 stores from Instant Cash Loans. The Money Shop stores, along with five loan books, were bought for a total of £1.5m. The deal increases Ramsdens’ headcount by 70.

Jo Reynolds, store manager, said: “We are delighted to have opened the doors of our relocated store in Castle Dene, having relocated from Yoden Way.

Myself and the team are looking forward to seeing faces old and new at our new store, and helping each and every one of them to choose either the perfect gift either for themselves or a loved one, or bag the best rate for their currency!”
