Jobs fair for staff affected by Country Style Foods fire

A jobs fair is being held for staff employed at food factory which was badly damaged in a fire over the weekend.

Over 100 people are employed at Country Style Foods, which is based on the North East Industrial Estate in Peterlee.

Permanent staff are currently working from the company’s factory in Newcastle, while temporary staff have been laid off.

JobCentre Plus has organised the jobs fair for those affected, which will be held this Thursday, February 7, at 10am at the Horden and Peterlee Rugby Club.

A spokeswoman for JobCentre Plus said: “Countrystyle Foods have ceased production at their Peterlee site following a fire yesterday.

“Vacancies are being sought for staff affected. If your company has vacancies suitable for staff with food manufacturing skills please contact Guy Bashford at Business Durham, guy.bashford@durham.gov.uk.”

Guy Bashford will be in attendance at the jobs fair and will be happy to answer any questions relating to the recruitment support available.
