Jobs created as Newton Aycliffe drive-through cafe opens

A new coffee shop and drive-through cafe will open at Aycliffe Business Park later this week.

Councillor J.P. Hillary, Mayor of Great Aycliffe, will open the new shop this Thursday at 9am. It will be the only cafe and drive-through on Aycliffe Business Park and will provide a meeting place for colleagues to gather for lunch and business meetings as well as being open to the general public.

The new cafe, Siesta, will open at The Oaks Centre on Whinfield Drive and will become “the first independent drive-through cafe in the country”.

The cafe has been developed by Newton Aycliffe based building maintenance & facilities company EHL UK.

A spokesperson commented: “When we took over The Oaks Centre it was derelict, in a terrible state of disrepair and not structurally maintained.

“Now it’s a beautiful refurbished building with new tarmacked roads and lush greenery.

“It has become a base for our offices as well as a gym and now a coffee shop and drive-through cafe for all to enjoy on the business park and surrounding areas.

“The convenience of having a drive-through cafe will mean workers can grab a quick bite or a drink while on the move during the busy working day”.

EHL UK’s portfolio also includes a large gym at Aycliffe Business Park, which serves the whole of the business community and surrounding residential areas.

The opening of the coffee shop will create up to 8 new jobs. A management team has been appointed in preparation for the launch on 20th October.
