A cinema broadcast of the original West End production of The Audience, featuring Helen Mirren’s multi-award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II, returns this week in celebration of the monarch’s 90th birthday.

The play is written by Peter Morgan, who wrote the film The Queen which also starred Helen Mirren in the title role. It is directed by two-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours).

The Audience shows the Queen’s private meetings with former Prime Ministers Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair as well as incumbent David Cameron.
