Business and IT students from East Durham College have spent the week getting a taste for the world of work whilst taking up a number of exciting work experience places with Accenture.
14 students from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course and IT courses spent time at the company’s Newcastle offices, taking part in skills and employability workshops, along with learning about the numerous job roles at the Fortune 100 company.
Accenture is a leading global professional services company, providing a broad range of services and solutions in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations.
East Durham College, Programme Area Leader for Business and IT, Jill Tones, thanked Accenture for giving the students this fantastic opportunity and believes it has been a great experience for them.
Jill said: “This has been a real insight into the world of work for the students from business and IT Courses.
“They have had a fantastic opportunity to work with leading industry experts and learn about some of the job roles available to them in a future career in business and IT.
“I can’t thank Accenture enough for letting these student come in and be a part of this fantastic working environment for the week.
“I hope this is the start of a great partnership between Accenture and East Durham College.”
Karen Marshall, Apprentice, Education and Engagement Lead, from Accenture added: “The week saw students work on their communication skills, CVs and cover letter writing and presentation skills, all this along with working alongside our expert tutors to learn more about coding.
“The students from East Durham College were fantastic during the week and really got involved in all the exercises, they were great ambassadors for the college and I am sure they will go on to have a great future.”
