Two talented East Durham College beauty students have just picked up top three finishes in two hotly contested inter-college competitions.

Heather Patton, 18, from Peterlee and Summer Scotter, 18, from Sunderland both took part in the regional competitions which saw them take on students from colleges across the north east region.

Heather wowed the judges taking top spot, winning her category which was called Hollywood Glamour, at a competition held at Darlington College.

Meanwhile, Summer finished a highly credible third in the 80s Cover Girl category which was held at Hartlepool College of Further Education.

East Durham College beauty lecturer, Julie Williams, praised the students for their impressive work in the competitions.

Julie said: “These two students have worked really hard this year to improve on their skills in beauty and this is a great way to round off the year for them.

“They put in a great effort over the last few months to make sure they were ready to take part in these regional competitions and then performed brilliantly under pressure on the day.

“I am really proud of what they have both achieved.”
