Floristry course launched to brighten up your home

East Durham College has launched an exciting new short course in floristry, aimed at showing you some great tips and tricks to get the most out of flowers around your home.

The Flowers for the Home course runs over three evenings and is designed for anyone interested in learning how to make flower arrangements around their home even more eye-catching.

The course will run on three consecutive Tuesday evenings, starting on 19th April, 6-8pm at the college’s Houghall Campus in Durham.

Topics covered over the three weeks include; basket arrangement, hand-tie in a vase; and parallel arrangement.

The cost of the course is £100 and includes all materials, flowers and foliage for all the designs created during the course.

East Durham College floristry lecturer Sue Lee said: “This is a great little course that we have put together to help you get the most out of the flowers around your home.

“We aim to teach you some new skills and techniques to help you put together some great designs that can be used all year round.

“This course is open to anyone and is ideal for beginners.”
